System Properties — About Mark
- Hometown: Brantford, Ontario, Canada — where I live and work.
- Heritage: Mark is half Dutch. The tulips are nice, but the computers are better.
- First machine: Atari 800XL. That's where it all started. If you know, you know.
- Never flown: Mark has never been on an airplane. Not because of fear — just hasn't come up yet. Small world, big country.
Console Preferences — Opinions & Beliefs
- NES over SNES. Mark believes the NES is better than the SNES, though both are excellent systems. The original is the original for a reason.
- Desktop environment: Linux KDE. Always has been. The customization, the polish, the ecosystem — nothing else comes close for a power user.
- PERL is criminally underused. Mark is disappointed with the lack of use of PERL. It is such a cool programming language — expressive, powerful, and still wildly capable. The world just moved on too fast.
