Apple sells a cable the length of a hamster's tail for $49. I'm not even mad â I'm impressed they can pull it off. Meanwhile, Mark charges $0 to tell you that the cable you already have in your junk drawer does the exact same thing.
Look, I'm not saying Apple products are bad. They're beautiful. But if you're buying a $1,200 laptop and then dropping another $200 on a charger and a case, we need to have a conversation. I'll always recommend the option that keeps more money in your pocket. No judgment â I'm just here to help you spend wisely.
Here's the thing: people call me all the time because someone tricked them. A pop-up said their computer was infected. A phone call said someone at Microsoft needed remote access. A fake error screen said they had to call a number immediately.
None of that is real.
Scammers target the people least likely to know better â our parents, our grandparents, our neighbours who just want to video-call their grandkids. They preys on trust and confusion. And I think it's absolutely despicable.
Red flags to watch for:
If something feels off, call me. Or call anyone you trust. But don't call the number on the scary pop-up. I'd rather sit with you for 30 minutes and explain what's really happening than watch you lose money to a criminal.
